Jay Bradshaw has recently been elected Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the Northern California Carpenters Regional Council (NCCRC).
Jay will be known to many CFMEU members in Western Australia who have attended rallies and disputes. Up until COVID made it impossible, Jay frequently travelled to WA to stand in solidarity with workers here in Australia.
Northern California Carpenters Union represents 38,000 working carpenters and craftspeople in and around San Franscisco, Sacramento and San Jose.
Jay was a carpenter and journeyman before being elected as a Union official. He then served 10 years as Directing of Organising followed by 2 years as Executive Director of the 16 Counties Conference Board.
Jay said that he was honoured to have won the trust, confidence and votes of the membership in being elected to lead the Union.
“This is a momentous victory to advance this union into a new era, solidify the foundation we have all built together, and grow this union to even greater heights; all to the benefit of working carpenters and craftspeople in this state.”
Jay Bradshaw and his union have been staunch allies of the CFMEU for many years and Jay has visited Western Australia several times, lending his support to workers and Unionists here fighting for a fair share.
CFMEU State Secretary, Mick Buchan, sent his congratulation to Jay and the new Northern California Carpenters leadership team.
“We can’t think of anyone better to be the leader of the NCCRC. Jay is a true brother in arms and supporter of workers and Unionists around the world, and particularly here in Western Australia.”
“I know Jay will lead his union well and take the fight for a safe, fair and dignified workplace up to every single employer.”
“Solidarity to our brothers and sisters over at the NCCRC in California. Your fight is out fight. Respect.”
