We love our utes, our 4x4s and our caravans. If you like to get away with the family then check out Horrocks Beach as a option for your next boating, camping or fishing adventure.
Horrocks Beach is a well-hidden little coastal hamlet between Geraldton and Kalbarri. And it beat a lot of much higher profile locations to be named Australia’s top mainland beach in 2017.
This Coral Coast hideaway, about 500 km or 4 and a half hour north of Perth, is the classic Australian beach camp setting.
Horrocks is a place that time forgot, brimming with crays, country character and salty old Aussie characters. It’s a no-frills, friendly, one-store community where thongs are dressy.
There’s fantastic fishing from the jetty or off the beach at Horrocks, Little Bay (4-wheel drive access only) or at Bowes River, which also boasts some great surfing.
Horrocks Beach itself offers an aquatic masterpiece. Its 2.5km shark-free lagoon is probably our country’s largest saltwater reef encrusted swimming pool. Great for the kids.
The beach hamlet has a caravan park and chalets available for hire as well as a general store. The picturesque town of Northampton is also just 10-15 minutes away, with an IGA, servo and hotels for supplies.
There’s good fishing and cray-catching if you have a tinny and pots…don’t forget your license.
All in all it’s a great family holiday destination. Give it a go!
